The pride of Sand Wash Basin, the mustang stallion known as Picasso paws the ground and lowers his head to warn a rival stallion. Colorado is home to the wild mustangs of Sand Wash Basin, where they roam free on the high desert mesas, a tribute to the old west. These horses are descended from the horses used in the exploration and settlement of the western United States.
I have long enjoyed traveling with my husband across the United States to photograph and enjoy wildlife and nature. A retired elementary school teacher, I hold a masters degree in Arts Integration. My retirement from teaching means more time to spend photographing the wildlife and landscapes of the Rocky Mountains and the American West. Sharing the stories of the wild mustangs of the west is a particular passion of mine. To spend time photographing wild horses is a dream come true. Recently, we moved to Bella Vista in NW Arkansas. The Ozark Region is rich with history and photo opportunities. It has opened up a whole new area to explore that I am excited to share through my images.
