One of the greatest migrations in North America is the migration of Sandhill Cranes. They spend their winters in the warmer southern states, and migrate north to breed in the northern United States and Canada. One wintering spot is Bosque del Apache in New Mexico. Every winter, thousands of cranes call Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge home. Located in central New Mexico along the Rio Grande River, birders and photographers journey here to enjoy the sights and sounds. Here I slowed the shutter speed slightly to create some motion blur.
I have long enjoyed traveling with my husband across the United States to photograph and enjoy wildlife and nature. A retired elementary school teacher, I hold a masters degree in Arts Integration. My retirement from teaching means more time to spend photographing the wildlife and landscapes of the Rocky Mountains and the American West. Sharing the stories of the wild mustangs of the west is a particular passion of mine. To spend time photographing wild horses is a dream come true. Recently, we moved to Bella Vista in NW Arkansas.
