Sand Wash Basin, in northwestern Colorado, is home to wild mustangs. Here is Picasso, the pride of Sand Wash Basin, he is a powerful and battle tested stallion. Picasso is nearing 29 years old, and has left his genetic mark on the wild mustangs who call the high desert mesas home.

I have long enjoyed traveling with my husband across the United States to photograph and enjoy wildlife and nature. A retired elementary school teacher, I hold a masters degree in Arts Integration. My retirement from teaching means more time to spend photographing the wildlife and landscapes of the Rocky Mountains and the American West. Sharing the stories of the wild mustangs of the west is a particular passion of mine. To spend time photographing wild horses is a dream come true. Recently, we moved to Bella Vista in NW Arkansas. The Ozark Region is rich with history and photo opportunities. It has opened up a whole new area to explore that I am excited to share through my images.
