Description

Broadtail hummingbirds migrate every summer to Colorado's Rocky Mountains all the way from southern Mexico and Guatemala where they spend their winters. This image was captured on my deck in Park County Colorado at an elevation of 9,000 ft. Here I used a strobe flash to freeze the motion of the wings. A dark pine tree formed a beautiful dark background to bring all attention to this tiny hummer.
